Have you seen my new website yet?

If there is one thing that I have learned in my young life and know for certain to be true, it is that the future is what you make of it — as long as you are willing to make the effort and grab life by the balls.

The more I think about all of this, the more synonymous the ideas and potential of open source and the ideals of democracy become.

But in today’s language and today’s political climate, the two seem to be the perfect marriage of ideals and together offer the most promising future. It is my hope that that future can start at Open:Source:Polity.

We have all seen the success of Wikipedia. I remember in high school when we weren’t allowed to cite Wikipedia as a source for school papers and projects. Now in college some years later, Wikipedia has become much more reliable and certainly used much more than most educators would care to admit.

Likewise, we have all seen the success of open source communities who have developed software that has changed the world we live in. Don’t believe me? Do some research on what is running your cell phone or your TiVo. Find out what not only the biggest but the most successful companies use to support their IT infrastructure. The truth is not hard to find.

It’s time for a new community. Open:Source:Polity can be that community.

My initial intentions for this project are actually very simple. I hope that they will be expanded upon or evolve on their own as time carries on, but here they are for the world to see.

If a grassroots community is able to accomplish the goals I’ve set out, then I think whatever follows will be exciting and certainly worth being a part of.

Let’s all create a new polity, a new democracy, a new Republic, a new America. Let’s expose our government for what it is, facilitate the needed transparency, and hold our elected officials accountable.

Instead of waiting on our representative to pass the right law or draft the needed bill, let’s create our own. Let the voices of the American people be heard loud and clear.

Open:Source:Polity can be the platform for that voice. Open:Source:Polity can be the resource that provides American citizens with the information needed to make responsible decisions. Let’s do it! Let’s make this happen!
