Abortion, homosexuality, and atheism

Found this article via Digg.com and had to give my two cents.  This kind of stuff just infuriates me.  There are plenty of private schools if you don’t like what the public education system has to offer.  Oh, and don’t forget that actual conversations with your children does have a very real impact on them, no matter their initial response.

This says it all:

“My kids are going to school to learn, not to become a homosexual or an abortion doctor or an atheist,” she said.

Palm Beach Post

Sorry lady, but if your kid is a “homo”, there’s not much you can do about it.  Not reading books is just going to make your son feel alone and weird and make his life all that more difficult.  If he’s considering an abortion, I seriously doubt the library is going to be his first resource.  As far as atheism, perhaps that is something they should teach in school.  I mean, you did tell him there’s no such thing as Santa Claus right?  What’s the difference?

Another quote from the wise West Palm Beach woman:

“My oldest son doesn’t believe in God,” she said. “I guess he kind of thinks I’m stupid.”

Palm Beach Post

Well lady, maybe he’s on to something.  Try thinking for yourself.  Try using the brain “God gave you” and spend some time reflecting on the world around you.  If you’re not able to draw simple, logical conclusions based on reason that blatantly conflict with your scripture, than perhaps you are stupid.
